Clinical / Medical Evaluations Prior To Treatment

A complete and laborious medical evaluation is imperative in ruling out mental health conditions that may be related to neurochemistry and/or physiology.

There is no suggestion whatsoever, in requiring a medical work-up, that there exists an implication, or suspicion, explicit, implicit, or otherwise, that any major mental illness, or any serious pathology is present at this time.

The results will be compared and contrasted with each other, with the patient’s and their family’s history, and considered against a background of present and past environmental pieces.

Results are also of assistance in ruling out certain conditions, including the probability of prodromal conditions, and guide your Doctor towards appropriate treatment planning and/or medications if needed.

T3 – T4 – REUPTAKE

The interest for mental health is that thyroid deficiency may be associated with cognitive and emotional disturbances, and thyroid hormones may be useful in the treatment of depression

. Researchers at the University of Iowa found that among nearly 7,000 healthy young adults, men with TSH and T4 levels suggesting subclinical hypothyroidism were more likely to be depressed.

In a Dutch study, depressed patients who were not taking antidepressants had higher blood levels of TSH than controls matched for age and sex. German researchers comparing psychiatric patients with and without thyroid conditions found a correlation between subclinical thyroid deficiency and mild depression.

Thyroid abnormalities were not associated with any other psychiatric symptoms in this study. Another German study found an association between mood deterioration and clinical hypothyroidism.

In a study of adolescent girls who had recently been sexually abused, lower levels of T4 were associated with post-traumatic stress disorder and depressive symptoms.

IGE : Immunoglobulin E (IgE)

This is a test for evaluating patients for conditions associated with elevations in total immunoglobulin E (IgE), inclusive of inflammatory diseases, anxiety, panic, high reactivity, primary immunodeficiencies, allergies, infections, and malignancies.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov reports "strong links between self-reported and objectively verified allergies:"

A higher percentage of participants who reported allergies had one or more positive skin tests (75%) as compared to those who did not report allergies (49%;χ2=62.19, df=1, p<.001). Similarly, a higher percentage of participants who reported allergies had serum total IgE \>50 IU/ml (60%) as compared to those who did not report allergies (30%;χ2=64.31, df=1, p<.001).

Estrogen Fractions/fractionated;Estrone (E1);Estradiol (E2);Estriol (E3);Estrogenic Hormones

Women with severe mood/anxiety symptoms (so-called borderline personality disorder, demonstrated an increase in symptoms when they went on birth control pills, though only if they already had a high level of estrogen.

Similarly, that UCLA study, included three women whose estrogen levels went up a lot when taking Premarin, and they actually got a little worse, including an increase in their anxiety scores in particular.

5-HT level, 5-hydroxytryptamine level or Serotonin test

EVIDENCE FOR 5-HT DEFICIENCY IN DEPRESSION
is demonstrated in the therapeutic action of augmenting 5-HT function—or more specifically:
Increasing extracellular 5-HT (5-HTExt), the 5-HT pool acting at the 5-HT receptors

there are several lines of evidence pointing towards the presence of a 5-HT deficit in at least some populations of depressed patients.

In many studies, acute tryptophan depletion induces the recurrence of mild-depression symptoms in patients who have recovered following treatment with serotonergic antidepressants.

Chatecholamine Test (ideally fractionated) – If following symptoms are present:

  • Transient episodic high blood pressure
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Unusually hard heartbeat Heavy sweating
  • Weight loss
  • Transient episodic Severe headaches for an extended periods.
  • Pale skin
  • Transient episodic strong, unexplained anxiety

Med Evaluation

It is imperative that a complete medical/physiological and clinical-lab inclusive of Tox-SAP 10, GC/MS;-not simply Urine- be performed, and a complete exam of the naked body reveals no injection sites in the arms, phalanges, stomach, ... and no remarkable findings for any abscesses or inflammations, be it oral, or otherwise.
